This 28,000 square ft. discovery center will have you discovering for hours! Your family will be able to explore and interact with 12 galleries filled with over 150 exhibits. You will also enjoy amazing views from every floor inside of the building and our rooftop. You can even enjoy a snack on our outdoor patio!
The Magic City Discovery Center is designed for children of all ages, from toddlers to tweens and even grown-ups! Our hands-on exhibits and interactive galleries offer different levels of challenge and creativity, so younger kids can explore at their pace while older kids dive deeper into building, experimenting, and problem-solving.
No matter their age, every visitor will find something to spark curiosity, imagination, and fun.

The Magic City Discovery Center has entrances that are universally accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. The elevators provide access to all floors and exhibits. To the greatest extent possible, we have also designed our exhibits to be accessible for all abilities. Accessible restrooms and parking are also available.
Yes. The Magic City Discovery Center welcomes service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service animals must be trained to perform a specific task or work related to a person’s disability.
For the safety of our guests, service animals must remain under the handler’s control at all times. Please note that emotional support animals, therapy animals, and pets are not permitted inside the museum.
If you have questions or need accommodations to help make your visit more comfortable, our staff is happy to help; just ask at the front desk.
Yes, we offer a significantly reduced price of $5 per person with an EBT or SNAP card.
At this time, EBT/SNAP discounted admission must be purchased in person at the Discovery Center. Please present your EBT/SNAP card at the front desk to receive the discount.
Yes! Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. Food and non-water beverages may be enjoyed on the lower level only. To help protect our exhibits, only water is allowed on the other levels of the museum.
The Discovery Center also has a vending machine and bottled water available for purchase during your visit.
Our lost and found is located in our coat closet in the lobby area of the Discovery Center. If items have not been claimed within 30 days we will be donating all appropriate items to a local thrift store.
Yes! The cost of admission can be applied toward the purchase of a membership when the membership is purchased on the same day as your visit. Please let our front desk staff know before you leave so they can apply the credit.
Check out Careers on our website to see open positions. Several volunteers are needed to ensure a safe and fun environment and this also helps to keep costs down so our center is accessible by all. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we will continue fundraising and seeking donations to keep admission and membership prices affordable.
The Magic City Discovery Center is a direct result of successful public-private partnerships with the City of Minot, Minot Park District, Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation - Department of Defense, the State of North Dakota, and numerous supporters from regional businesses, foundations, and individuals.
Starting in 2013, a visionary community children’s museum group succeeded in establishing a children’s museum in Minot to serve the greater North Dakota region. The STEAM-focused education center is a creativity sanctuary where children will be challenged to solve problems and gain life skills while playing in a fun and safe environment.
