Monthly Activities

Sensory Nights are designed for children and their families who may have special needs, differently-abled individuals, and those who have sensory sensitivities. We understand that the museum can be a bustling place. During Sensory Friendly Night, we provide adjusted sound levels and limit attendance to create a calmer environment. Sensory bags will also be available at the front desk. Families can explore the museum at their own pace. Sensory Night is held on the third Monday of each month from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Sponsored Sensory Nights are Free; non-sponsored months are $5. Tiny Thinkers is a STEAM-based series for young children! Activities include hands-on science, sensory play, stories, art, movement activities, and more. Sessions last 20 to 30 minutes and are geared for toddlers although all ages are welcome, even grandparents! Tiny Thinkers is every Thursday and the program is free with a museum entrance ticket!

A creative workshop series designed for kids, families, and adults to explore, experiment, and make something of their own. Rather than traditional instructor-led classes, each workshop provides a creative project, materials, examples, and guidance while allowing participants the freedom to make it their own. No prior experience or artistic skills are needed, just come ready to create!Workshop FormatBimonthly Workshop: Beginning in October, workshops will be held on the first Friday of every other month.Time: 6:00–8:00 PMLocation: Magic City Discovery Center, Creativity StudiosWho Can Attend: Kids, families, and adultsParent/Guardian Requirement: Parents or guardians must remain with children during the workshop.
