Volunteer Role Descriptions

Art Room Volunteer (Creativity Studio)
Support children and families as they explore their creativity through various art
activities. Volunteers help keep the space clean and organized, refresh supplies, and
spark imagination through friendly, hands-on interactions. No art skills needed — just
enthusiasm!
Art Room volunteers are needed Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from
12–2 PM or 2–4 PM.

Makerspace Volunteer
Welcome families into our Makerspace and encourage inventiveness through building,
tinkering, and experimentation. Volunteers help explain materials, promote safe use,
and keep the space tidy — perfect for curious minds who love open-ended play.
Makerspace volunteers are needed Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from
12–2 PM or 2–4 PM.

Field Trip PlayPal
Help during busy field trip visits by being an extra set of eyes, ears, and helping hands.
You’ll guide groups, assist with transitions, model how exhibits work, and make visiting
MCDC a fun and smooth experience for everyone.
PlayPal volunteers are needed for various scheduled field trips at MCDC.

Event Volunteer
Support our special in-house or outreach events by running STEAM activities, engaging
with families, and promoting the Discovery Center in the community. These roles are
high-energy, hands-on, and a great way to represent MCDC with a smile!

per year)
