This March, the night sky over Minot is about to transform into something extraordinary. The Magic City Discovery Center is teaming up with the Aggie Foundation and Northern Lights Drone Shows to bring our community an unforgettable time with technology, creativity, and discovery both in the sky and on the ground.
Whether you’re watching hundreds of glowing drones dance overhead or learning how to fly one yourself, Drone Week is all about exploring how science and imagination work together.
Explore the Sky: Drone Show at the Discovery Center
Get ready to look up in awe. On March 3 and March 4, more than 300 synchronized drones will soar into the sky, creating colorful animations, shapes, and patterns, set to music and powered by cutting-edge technology.
Drone shows are an exciting, eco-friendly alternative to fireworks, using advanced GPS systems, precision programming, and LED technology to tell stories in the sky. Each drone becomes a pixel of light, and together they form a moving canvas above Minot.

This experience blends STEM learning, teamwork, and creativity, giving participants a deeper appreciation for the technology behind the show they’ll see later that evening.
Why Drone Week Matters
Drone Week is more than entertainment—it’s discovery in action. These events highlight:
Engineering & physics (motion, balance, aerodynamics)
Technology & coding (GPS systems, programming, coordination)
Art & storytelling through light and movement
Problem-solving and collaboration
At the Discovery Center, we believe learning happens best when curiosity leads the way, and Drone Week is a perfect example of playful, powerful learning for all ages.
Come curious. Look up. And discover the future, one drone at a time! 🚀✨
