The Magic City Discovery Center lit up the night on Monday, October 10 at 8 p.m. by turning on all its exterior lights. This lighting ceremony celebrated the completion of the construction of the building. The building is comprised of 28,000 square feet containing 12 major galleries which include three levels of interactive exhibits plus a rooftop area with space inside and out. The installation of over 150 interactive exhibits continues into the new year with an anticipated grand opening date in the early months of 2023.
The event hosted around 100 attendees and included a program on Facebook LIVE featuring Board Member Rianne Kuhn, Community Outreach Specialist Myranda Brown, and the inaugural crew of Kid Ambassadors who started the countdown for the lights to go on. Popcorn from Oak Park Theatre was served and light sticks were offered to event attendees to light up the hillside.
